      • Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors

      • Food Safety

Nebraskans wanting to adopt healthful practices and attitudes that affect both mind and body can find help from UNL Extension programs. We help you learn how to manage food resources and handle food safely. We also help you know how proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle can improve your quality of life.

Nutritious Foods

Families today are constantly on the go — making our use of time for cooking and eating healthy meals a challenge. If you are looking for resources to help you meet these everyday challenges check out these extension sites.

Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors

Diabetes is a serious problem ... but research shows that if you keep your blood sugar close to normal you can reduce your chances of serious health problems. Take charge of what you eat. Get regular physical activity. Test your blood sugar. Take your medication as prescribed. Use the Control Diabetes For Life archived video presentations to help you learn as much as you can about diabetes.

Seniors and their family members need reliable, unbiased information on available Medicare Prescription Drug plans. Since 2004, UNL Extension and the Nebraska Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) have collaborated to provide that information on the “Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage and Education” website.

One of rural America's and Nebraska's greatest challenges is the drug epidemic, especially methamphetamine. Individuals and communities need simple strategies to help combat this growing problem. Check out UNL Extension’s “METH Educational Resources” page for parent and community resources.

Food Safety

Food safety is high priority for Nebraskan's. Use these educational resources to help you “know how” to protect yourself, your family, and/or your food patrons.
